SEA PARADISE
CLOSE TO HOME
I first met Marc and Olalla through a couple whose wedding I had organized two years prior. From the very beginning, their love story fascinated me. They met during a job interview—Marc was the interviewer, and Olalla was the candidate. Fortunately, Marc didn’t have the final say in the hiring decision, because as they joke now, he might not have chosen her. Fate, however, had other plans.
A LOVE LETTER TO LA COSTA BRAVA
The wedding had to take place in L’Alt Empordà, on the Costa Brava—a cherished summer retreat for Marc’s family for generations.
Cortal Gran, an idyllic medieval estate wrapped in bougainvillea, became the perfect venue, effortlessly blending historical charm with a relaxed Mediterranean spirit. To pay homage to the sea, Catering L’Empordà crafted a seasonal menu centered around fresh fish, as if offering a warm embrace from the ocean itself. Maite Mach were the floral artists behind all the stunning arrangements—a true feast for the senses.
But what touched me most was their deep love for Menorca—their favorite place in the world and the inspiration for their entire wedding day. It was there, against the backdrop of the island’s raw beauty, that Marc had proposed to Olalla.
Every element of their celebration echoed Menorca’s spirit: the warm, sun-drenched tones of a Mediterranean summer, the romantic play of candlelight, and the texture of natural woven baskets. As a final touch, guests received hand-crafted ceramic jewelry plates, each individually inscribed with their names—an homage to Menorca’s artisanal heritage.
The breeze carried the salty scent of the sea. Seagulls danced overhead. Pine trees swayed gently in the distance. It was summer. It was them. It was Costa Brava.
